Firas Hijazi, MD

Interventional Pain Management

Pain management specialist Firas Hijazi, MD, brings more than 20 years of experience in interventional pain management to LA Pain Doctor, serving men and women at four convenient locations in Metairie, LaPlace, Harvey, New Orleans, and Luling, Louisiana.

Dr. Hijazi began his professional pursuits at one of the top medical schools in Italy, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine. Following graduation, he moved to the United States and completed a medical residency in anesthesia at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He subsequently participated in an interventional pain management fellowship at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Dr. Hijazi founded LA Pain Doctor in 2004, establishing the first location in LaPlace, Louisiana. As a pain management specialist, Dr. Hijazi has a special interest in regional anesthesia in pain management. He loves getting to know his patients and helping them live active, mobile, and pain-free lives.

Dr. Hijazi always sets aside plenty of time to understand his clients’ individual needs. Through thorough examinations, he diagnoses the source of their pain and creates custom treatment plans using a variety of treatment methods, including physical therapy, injections, and other noninvasive procedures.

Dr. Hijazi proudly holds membership in the American Society of Anesthesia, the River Parishes Medical Society, and the Louisiana State Medical Society. He’s board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesia and is both ACLS- and PALS-certified.

Satvik Munshi, MD

Interventional Pain Management

Double board-certified pain management specialist Satvik Munshi, MD, brings considerable experience in interventional pain management to LA Pain Doctor, serving men and women at four convenient locations in Metairie, LaPlace, Harvey, New Orleans, and Luling, Louisiana.

Dr. Munshi began his professional education at the Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he received the competitive Jack R. Aron Leadership Scholarship and earned his Doctor of Medicine.

Following graduation, Dr. Munshi completed residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, also in New Orleans. He excelled in the program, serving as chief resident. Dr. Munshi subsequently pursued a fellowship in pain management, also at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center.

As a pain management specialist, Dr. Munshi works to improve the lives of his patients by taking a comprehensive approach. Using safe, effective, and proven treatments, Dr. Munshi helps both men and women lead more functional and productive lives. Jonathan Pham, MD

Dr. Pham specializes in interventional pain management and emergency medicine. Raised in Forsyth, Georgia for the majority of his life. He was frequently in the state of Louisiana, as most of his family lived within the state. He has a strong heritage within New Orleans, spending most of his formative time in New Orleans East with the Vietnamese community of that area. Walking his dog, Baylor around the city every day is an activity he enjoys. Other activities Dr. Pham adores hiking, visiting national parks, fishing, and spending time with family.

Dr. Pham has always been a person that values the community. Volunteering at soup kitchens, food banks, adoption centers, and medical institutions. Dr. Pham plans to grow with the community within the greater New Orleans area.
Dr. Pham graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology, staying within the state of Georgia to complete his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Pham then went on to complete a residency in emergency medicine at John Peter Smith in Fort Worth, Texas. He was compelled by the countless number of chronic pain patients that were suffering and decided to dedicate his life to alleviate their pain. Continuing in his passion, Dr. Pham decided to complete a Fellowship in interventional pain at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Dr. Pham plans to prioritize quality patient care and guarantee that all of his patient’s medical needs and concerns are addressed properly. Providing the best medical decisions to better a patient’s pain management care and treatment plan. He looks forward to helping others seek relief from acute and chronic pain at LA Pain Doctor.

George Kum-Nji, MD

George Kum-Nji, M.D. is double boarded in the medical specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the medical subspecialty of Pain Medicine.

After completing medical school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2010, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army. While serving in the Army, he completed his specialty and subspecialty training in 2014 and 2017 respectively.

He was honorably discharged as a Major on June 30, 2021. Dr. Kum-Nji enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters.

Landis McMahon, FNP-C

Landis McMahon is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Born and raised in the greater New Orleans area. She graduated from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Ochsner Medical Center in Transplant Stepdown, then at University Medical Center in Infectious Disease. She went on to get her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is board certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

As a nurse practitioner working in pain management, it is her goal to provide the safest medical care to every one of her patients. She will work to ensure that her patients’ medical needs and concerns are addressed. Prioritizing individualized care is her focus as she creates each patient’s pain management treatment plan.

Shannon Howard, FNP-BC

Shannon Howard is a board certified family nurse practitioner. She considers herself to be a transplant New Orleanian, as she is originally from St. Louis, MO. She graduated with her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama at Mobile in 2018 and has clinical experience in urgent care, primary care, and now pain management. It is Shannon’s goal to utilize current scientific evidence as well as the patient’s individual goals to provide high quality, personalized care.

Shaina Matthews, NP

Shaina Matthews graduated from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

She also graduated with her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama at Mobile in 2019 and has clinical experience in the emergency department, primary care and now pain management.

Shaina is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She was born and raised in the New Orleans area.

Shaina’s main goal is to provide quality compassionate care and to help patients live a full rewarding life in the face of chronic pain.
